FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 24, 2024

Non-profit organization Living LFS is excited to welcome author Lawrence Ingrassia to its upcoming family camp at Flying Horse Farms in Mt. Gilead, Ohio on August 24.

Ingrassia's newest book, A Fatal Inheritance: How a Family Misfortune Revealed a Deadly Medical Mystery, chronicles his family's battle with Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS), a rare genetic disorder that dramatically increases the risk of developing cancer for those affected. A Fatal Inheritance has received coverage from MSNBC's Morning Joe, NPR's Weekend Edition, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, and others. Amazon Editors selected A Fatal Inheritance as both one of the Best Nonfiction Books and one of the Best Biographies and Memoirs of May 2024, when it was published.

Ingrassia isn't just an author; he's a multi-award-winning journalist with a distinguished career at The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. In his decades-long newspaper career, journalists working for him won five Pulitzer Prizes, and Ingrassia directed coverage of the 2008 financial crisis that was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in the public service category.

Living LFS’ family camp will provide LFS families and individuals with psychosocial tools and support, including clinician-led sessions on managing life with cancer and Li-Fraumeni syndrome, caring for caregivers, understanding genetics, and more. LFS families will also have the opportunity to bond through fun activities like hiking, orienteering, and a talent show.

Ingrassia will hold a Q&A and book signing on Saturday, August 24th beginning at 11am. This is a unique opportunity for families and individuals affected by LFS to connect with a renowned author who understands their experiences.

"Having Lawrence Ingrassia join our family camp is a tremendous honor,” said Living LFS president Andi Last. “His journalistic background and personal story with LFS will provide invaluable insights and inspiration for our families."
