Social Media Coordinator Volunteer

Living LFS is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to encourage, empower, and educate those living with Li-Fraumeni syndrome by connecting them with care, resources, and others who are Living LFS. We are seeking a volunteer Social Media Coordinator. 

This unpaid virtual position, with guidance and training from the outgoing volunteer Social Media Manager, will utilize current social media strategies and creativity to craft messaging that:

  • Promotes active Living LFS campaigns and creates brand awareness
  • Advocates for those with Li-Fraumeni syndrome and raises awareness of this hereditary cancer condition
  • Increases overall reach, engages the public, and grows our community of supporters and donors 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish a content calendar and use of a content management/scheduling platform such as Hootsuite, Meet Edgar, or similar
  • Spread Living LFS images, messaging, fundraising, and activities through the organization’s social media channels (and personal networks if willing)
  • Monitor all social activity and user interactions, and engage with and request permission to share photos, videos, and stories from community members
  • Find and adapt appropriate royalty-free images and videos for posting
  • Adapt general campaign messaging for the different outlet-specific audiences
  • Contribute creative ideas and new campaign initiatives to increase online reach

 

Skills & Personal Traits

  • Experience with any/all of our key social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok)
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to leverage online media tools (video and image editing, Canva, etc) to engage members, donors, and corporate partners
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic, and creative
  • Works well independently and proactively as part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • An interest in Li-Fraumeni syndrome is essential

 

A minimum 6 month commitment for an average of 1-7 hours per week from the volunteer’s own office or home, with commitment subject to renewal and extension by agreement from both parties.  The volunteer will gain valuable experience in social media, communications, public relations, marketing, and nonprofit management. Our volunteers are highly valued members of the Living LFS team and contribute to making a significant difference in the successful execution of Living LFS’s vision and mission.
