Kiera was pure light. She loved space and was studying aerospace engineering, hoping to work for NASA. After having cancer at age 19, and then watching so many others in my family pass from cancer, she transferred to Utah State University to study cancer after stating "I'm gonna figure out what's wrong with my family". She expected to devote her life to this cause. She joined Dr Schiffman's research team, and it didn't take long to realize that our family fit the criteria for the very thing she was researching. She tasted positive for LFS. So did I. And so the life saving screenings began. She has saved my life 3 times now, as I have had cancer 3 times since she solved the family mystery. They were all caught early thanks to my beautiful, smart daughter. She was working on her PHD when her sarcoma returned and she passed at age 28. She taught me how to have a positive and grateful attitude through hard things. She was always smiling, kind to everyone and a light to all those around her. She had a beautiful singing voice and a contagious laugh. Life is definitely not the same without her. Love you forever, my sweet Kiera. I'm sorry I couldn't save you too.
